Backed up my biggest day yet yesterday with the shortest one so far.
The amount of walking has taken a serious toll on my feet. I haven't shared this in my updates yet, but each night when I lay down I get shooting pains in the soles of my feet and buzzing energy that often keeps me awake when all I want to do is sleep. After a big day yesterday my feet, ankles and toes were swollen and sore.
Heysens Rest was a perfect place to relax for half a day. I laid in bed for most the morning hoping my feet would heal, even if it was just a little bit.
At 1.00 pm the owner and trail angel, Jane, dropped me off to where I finished the night before. I walked on that same road we drove on for an hour until I passed Heysens Rest. I didn't want to miss out on any part of the trail! Even if its 5 kilometres of road walking.
The trail took me through Myponga Conservation Park. The steep track, landscape and plant life reminded me of Yulti. At the top, the views of the park were incredible.
Reaching a road, I was picked up by a work friend Claire. Claire had offered to take me back to her place, feed me pizza and wine and organised a foot bath. She did this and also blessed me with the company of her beautiful family.
